How can I get my GED?

Almost anyone that is at least age 19 and not attending public school can take the GED tests. ACE2 provides GED preparation and pre-GED testing absolutely free. Testing is done at Madisonville Community College Assessment Center and is FREE.

How do I earn a Kentucky Employability Certificate?

A person must take all three assessments (Reading for Information, Applied Math, and Locating Information). The KEC is awarded in either of two levels: Silver-for a score of 4 on all three assessments, Gold-for a score of 5 on all three assessments.

How do I enroll in college?

Madisonville Community College makes it easy to enroll. Either download the application for admission or contact the Office of Admissions by calling 824-8573.

How do I find out if my employer offers tuition reimbursement?

If you are not sure whether or not your employer offers tuition reimbursement, simply check your employee handbook or ask your human resources representative.

How do I find out what educational opportunities are available?

We encourage everyone to raise their level of education. Whether you are without your high school diploma or have an associate degree we will help you find your way to a better future. Call GROW at 821-0100 or complete our online registration form to schedule your educational needs assessment.

How do I participate in GROW?

Call us at 821-0100 to take part in the educational needs assessment used to create a road map for your future. ACE2, our partner provides direction and specific training necessary to help you become one of the best trained and certified workers in high-performance companies that make their home in Hopkins County.

How much does participation in the program cost?

It's FREE. We want to get you started on the right foot. The process of identifying your educational needs costs absolutely nothing. We provide you with a plan that allows you to get the most training for your hard-earned dollar.

Is the GROW program available only in Hopkins County?

Currently the program is only available in Hopkins County. It is GROW's hope that the program can be extended to neighboring counties in the near future.

What can I expect from participating in GROW?

An opportunity to gain new skills, a better job, higher pay and the confidence to reach your goals. New skills and self confidence go a long way towards landing a better job, whether you are interested in a total career change or seeking a promotion. Either way, a better job means better pay.

What is GROW Hopkins County?

It's our community's effort to improve and accelerate the economic growth in and around Hopkins County. Our mission is to raise the education and skill level of our workforce by helping individuals to identify areas for personal improvement and recommending programs that help them to achieve their goals.

What is WorkKeys?

WorkKeys is an assessment system created by ACT for use in the business community. It allows businesses to have a common language regarding workplace skills through job profiling, skills assessment and instructional support. WorkKeys presents results on a scale of 3-7. These are NOT grade level equivalents. WorkKeys compares the skills of workers with the skills required by the job.

What is the Kentucky Employability Certificate (KEC)?

The KEC was created to provide skill-based credentials to Kentuckians to help them secure employment, provide employers with workers that have documented skills proficiencies, and certify applicants that employers can hire with confidence.

What is the economic outlook for Hopkins County?

The economic outlook for Hopkins County is very positive if certain conditions exist. Hopkins County already provides a favorable business environment through incentive programs and geographic location. The determining factor will be whether or not a skilled workforce is in place to meet the requirements of companies considering locating in Hopkins County.

What is tuition reimbursement?

Tuition reimbursement is a benefit offered by some employers that provides compensation to employees for continuing education. The amount of compensation is typically based on educational performance and varies from employer to employer.

What should I do if I have registered online but have not received a response?

If it has been more than one business day, Monday through Friday, since you submitted your application and have not been contacted by a GROW representative, call 821-0100 to check on the status of your request.

ACE2, the Adult Centers for Educational Excellence, provides a skills assessment for free. Contact ACE2 by calling 824-7101 to speak to a representative about scheduling your skills assessment.

What training can I get for free?

ACE2, the Adult Centers for Educational Excellence, provide free workplace skills training to improve basic employment foundation skills, advanced skills training, career planning, and GED preparation and pre-GED testing. Visit the ACE2 Web site to see a complete list of free training programs.

Who is involved with the GROW program?

Many major players in the county have become involved in the GROW project and are putting forth time and effort to ensure the program is successful. The group includes numerous business and industry representatives and educational organizations.
